Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute

Letter from the director, Darjeeling, 28th August 2010

Dear Friends,

I hope you all are keeping well.
Here we are well and some changes have taken place about which I'm
happy to inform you all.

The senior class of nine female students appeared for their oral exams
in March and for the written exam in April. For six of them the special oral exam of the Three Tantra's was succesfully held in May.
After this they had a month holiday, and now they are doing their
internship. The result of their exam will only be out on the next
Chagpori commemoration day on the 6th of May, 2011.

Maybe this is a record in Tibetan Medicine that only a female group of
students graduates!

In the meanwhile we have opened in a new rented place the pharmacy with the machines which were donated by the Bep Aten Foundation from Holland. We are very happy that from now onwards we will be able to manufacture medicines on a greater scale. And we plan to have them quality checked regularly, nevertheless the place is too small to meet the GMP guidelines.

Our first priority now is to start with the construction of the new
pharmacy on the land in Salugara. Herewith it will be possible to meet
all the requirements needed to produce medicines according to the GMP guidelines.

Besides this we realise that with the start of the construction of the
pharmacy we also need to start with the construction on the new
College cum hostel building. The recent rainy season affected a part
of the College drastically and made it out of use. Repair or further
construction at Takdah land will be too expensive, so the best option
is to construct cheaper and with better quality of work at the
Salugara land.

For both constructions more Funds are needed and I would like to make a strong appeal to you all to help us with these upcoming
constructions. This will enable us to work for a selfsupporting Chagpori in the future.

We are happy to inform you that especially our clinic in Darjeeling
town is running successfully in the meanwhile. Because we have our
graduates and a coming up of better production of medicines, we are
thinking of opening more clinics in the near future. We will keep you
informed about this.

I would like to thank you all for your continued and future support.

With best wishes,

Teinlay P. Trogawa
Director of Chagpori TMI
